Today I had a free hour after work and decided to entertain myself with Z-Out by Rainbow Arts. Essentially this is your bog-standard shoot 'em up which looks and sounds really nice with more than a hint of R-Type. Apart from a nifty two-player feature, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table but I do love the blatant ripped-off sound effects. I enjoyed playing Z-Out today, it's pretty good but the Atari ST has better. Plus it's a total badass! (or is it just me?)
- AtariMania has Z-Out listed in their ST database website.
- 8BitChip has adapted this for hard drive installation (level skip feature too!)
- Here are some nifty cheats :
-> pressing J + K together gives infinite energy.
-> pressing J and a number between 1 - 6 (on the main keyboard) to skip levels.
-> pressing K and a number between 1 - 3 (on the keypad) to jump stages.
